Friends of the Conway Animal Shelter (FOCAS) and the Arkansas Children’s Hospital received $7,500 each from the 2012 Chase Race.

These FOCAS funds are used to promote the adoption of animals from the Conway Animal Shelter as well as to provide critical medical care to shelter animals.

In addition, the funds are used in the adoption, fostering and transporting of dogs to different parts of the country.

FOCAS also assists in preparing dogs to be part of the new “Paws in Prison” program.

Funds going to the Arkansas Children’s Hospital are used for adolescent brain trauma research.

The race memorializes Chase Potter who died in 2005.

He was both a lover of pets and suffered from brain trauma.

Children’s Hospital treated 12,821 adolescents from Faulkner County last year.
