Needs Creek Baptist Church will hold a cemetery decoration day, Saturday, with a potluck at noon.
Donations are now being accepted for the upkeep of the cemetery.
To get to the cemetery, take Highway 65 North to Springhill. Turn right on 287 and go approximately three miles.
The Women’s Department of the Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church, located in Houston, Ark., (the Toadsuck Community), will host its annual Women’s Day worship service at 11 a.m. Sunday.
The theme for this service will be “Women walking in the newness of Christ,” Romans 6:4. The guest speaker will be Samantha Evans. Ms. Evans grew up in rural Bigelow and graduated from Bigelow High School. She earned her B.A. in political science from Spelman College located in Atlanta, Ga. She later received a master’s in urban planning and regional development from the Humphrey School of Public Affairs, which is the University of Minnesota’s school of policy and planning.
Ms. Evans is now a planning technician for the City of North Little Rock, where she serves as the secretary of the planning commission.
She and her son Jeremiah live in Conway.
The public is invited. The Rev. James L. Delph is the host pastor.
The 35th annual Memorial Service and Decoration Day at Round Mountain Cemetery, south of Conway, will be held Sunday. A potluck lunch will served at 1 p.m. Service and business meeting will follow at 2 p.m. Those attending are asked to dress comfortably and bring lawn chairs. Oakland United Methodist Church at Holland will be hosting its annual singing and Homecoming Sunday with regular church service at 10:45 a.m., lunch at noon and singing at 1:30.
Founded in 1849, Oakland UMC is the oldest institution in Faulkner County. It’s located in Holland on Highway 287. Church pastor is LaNita Daniels.
