LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — Three reporters and a cameraman at a Little Rock NBC affiliate have been fired after profanity-filled spoof videos turned up on YouTube, according to a report Friday by a Little Rock newspaper.
KARK General Manager Rick Rogala apologized in a statement Friday to viewers and said disciplinary action has been taken. The videos, first reported by Arkansas Business, show the reporters using profane language and poking fun at their jobs. The videos were originally posted on YouTube but have since been removed.
Rogala called the spoof videos "unauthorized, offensive and distasteful."
Arkansas Business reported that the station fired on-air reporters Pete Thompson and Courtney Collins, who are married, and sports reporter Jake Hatley. News photographer Chris Jameson also was fired.
Thompson told Arkansas Business earlier this week that the videos were made as a joke to practice for Little Rock's upcoming 48-Hour Film Project.
