Albert Hammonds arrived from Judsonia to become manager of the Piggly-Wiggly store here. He succeeded H.E. Murray, who resigned to go into business at Beebe.
A.T. Sims, formerly of Guy, opened a grocery and dry goods store in the building adjoining the First National Bank. Mr. Sims was in business at Guy for many years. His store there was taken over by W.C. Day, formerly of Conway.

Mrs. Frank E. Robins returned home from Jackson, Miss., where she spent the Thanksgiving holidays with her daughter and family.
Wilbur Owen was selected for the All-State football team of Arkansas by the Arkansas Sportswriter Association.
The Junior Progressive Club held its annual Christmas dinner at Tommu’s Restaurant with 22 members present. Mrs. James H. Street spoke on “Making Religion Real in the Home.” Co-hostesses were Mrs. Calvin C. Shock and Mrs. Berman Maxey. Mrs. Paul Witherspoon was program leader. Mrs. Sam Martin presided at the meeting.

The board of the Newcomers’ Club of Conway met at the home of Marie Imhauser. Co-hostess was Beth Wicus. Catherine Dillon, Sharon Beekman, Georgia Roberts, Jacquie Wicus and Jan Coulter attended. A Newcomers’ Club welcome coffee was held a few weeks later at the home of Charlotte Crain. Jodi Avery co-hosted. New residents attending were Nancy Allen, Jackie Bumpers and Loretta Myers.
