The Conway Christian senior boys held Clinton off for a close win Tuesday night.
With a 16-point lead with three minutes to go in the game, the Eagles scraped by with a 2-point, 57-55 win.
“They made two straight 30- to 35-footers,” coach Shane Davis said. “And we weren’t making our free throws like we should have been.”
Leading the Eagles (2-0, 1-0) was Kirby Powell with 24 points. Ben Campbell scored 9; Caleb Stanton chipped in 8; and Zach Johnson scored 7.
They play Little Rock Lutheran at home Tuesday.
Junior Girls
The junior Lady Eagles (4-2,1-0) also held off Clinton for a close 37-33 victory.
Claire Hobbs scored 16 points, and Sara Nekonchuk scored 10.
