Chapter E, PEO
Chapter E, PEO will meet at the Faulkner County Library 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Host-esses will be Dorothy Robins, Nancy Graddy, Kathryn Starr and Johnnye Hartje. The program will be “The Old Gray Lady: Arkansas’ First Newspaper.”
Conway Garden Club
The Conway Garden Club met Nov. 3 in the home of Delaine Gartner. The meeting was called to order, and the creed was read. Business meeting began with the treasurer’s report by Elizabeth Rose Black. Paulette Herring gave a report of her attendance at the Northwest District meeting in Benton.
The program there was recognition of the Crystal Bridges Park in Bentonville, a donation from the Walton family. We are participating in the National President’s Project Planting Daffodils. Kay Mayes reported two possible sites, as yet undecided. Our order for 100 daffodils has arrived, and is ready to be planted very soon. Each member received a bulb to personally cultivate and enter in the Daffodil Show next year. The chosen bulb is Fragrant Rose, a class 2, large cup. Plans for our participation in Christmas at the Museum, on Saturday, Nov. 14, 9 a.m.-4 p.m., and Sunday, Nov. 15, 1-4 p.m. were completed.
Elizabeth Rose Black and Vickie Repp reported, and displayed items, collected on a fun filled day of shopping for western items to be used in this event. Program was a discussion of winterizing our gardens. Members exchanged ideas of specific plants in their garden and how to care for them in winter time. Much good information was given.
The Dec. 1 meeting place will be announced at a later date. There will be an exchange of gifts in the usual fashion. Meeting was adjourned, and a beautiful light luncheon prepared by Delaine Gartner and Bonnie Stidham was served.
