Mrs. Mason E. Mitchell, relief worker, said the distribution by townships of chronic dependent cases was as follows so far as investigations have already been made: Benton, 4; Cadron, 26; Cypress, 4; Danley, 6; East Fork, 1; Enola, 3; Hardin, 2; Matthews, 1; Mr. Vernon, 3; Palarm, 1; Pierce Creek, 1, and Pine Mountain, 3. One of the most pitiful cases in the country, Mrs. Mitchell said, was an old couple living in Benton Township. These people were 73 and 63 years old. The looked hungry and were dressed in rags. Neighbors had been helping them all they could, but more help was needed.
