Betty Fortner

Betty Fortner, 71, of Vilonia, died Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2009. Betty was born Feb. 15, 1938, in North Little Rock to the late Aaron V. and Lillie Manning Simpson.  

She is survived by her husband of 19 years, James Fortner; seven children, Elvis O. Garren of Damascus, Arthur Dale Garren and Teresa Baker, both of Conway, Roger Fortner of Santa Ana, Calif., Rick Fortner of Sheridan, Jamie Fortner and Jody Fortner, both of Benton; nine grandchildren; and three sisters, Flora Smith, Linda Harness and Wanda McCraw.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday in North Little Rock Funeral Home Chapel.  

Burial will be in Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery.  

The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. Monday at North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main St., (501) 758-1170.

Henrietta ‘Sue’ Hannah

Henrietta “Sue” Hannah, of Conway, passed away on Sept. 25, 2009.  

She was born Aug. 23, 1930, in Carrolton, Miss., to Oscar and Mary Coleman.  

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Hannah; one sister and one brother.

She is survived by two sisters, Vernette Frazier and Shirley Mobley, both of Natchez, Miss.; one son, Bill Hannah (Earlene); three grandchildren, Jayme Mayo, Jason Hannah and Joel Hannah, all of Conway; and three great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Arkansas Children’s Hospital, The Humane Society, Odyssey Health Care (Hospice) or the charity of your choice.

Family visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. today at Roller McNutt Funeral Home in Conway.  

Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Natchez City Cemetery in Natchez, Miss. 

 

 

Jo Ann Kerr

Jo Ann Kerr, 65, of Bee Branch, passed from this life Thursday, Sept. 25, 2009, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Jo Ann was born April 11, 1944, in Little Rock.

She was a steadfast Christian with a quiet and gentle faith that endeared her to the Lord, the church and God’s people. She was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church of Greenbrier.

Jo Ann is preceded in death by her parents, Isaac P. and Ila M. Sellars; brother, Lonnie McKnight; and sister, Geneva Sullivan.

Jo Ann is loved and will be missed by family and many friends including husband, Ed Kerr; son, Marcus; daughter-in-law, Laura Kerr; and grandson, Ethan Kerr; three brothers, Thomas “Bud” McKnight, Edward McKnight and Jimmy Sellars; one twin sister, Betty Grumbles; other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Greenbrier First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. John Farthing officiating. Burial will be in Blackwell Cemetery, Bee Branch.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Saturday at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home, Greenbrier, (501) 679-2575.

Pallbearers will be Kyle Cotton, Kendal Cotton, Glenn Kerr, Eddie Ray Shuffield, Kevin Norman and Neal McKnight.

Honorary pallbearers are the members of the Bill Hartwick Sunday school class.

Memorials may be made to Greenbrier First United Methodist Church food pantry.

Erma Jean Bannon Mayo

Erma Jean Bannon Mayo, 71, of Blytheville, passed away at Salem Place Nursing Home in Conway on Sunday, Sept. 20, 2009. 

Born in Portageville, Mo., on April 22, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Aaron and Ruby Fox Bannon. 

Her husband, Jerry Mayo, preceded her in death. Erma is survived by her son, J.J. Mayo of Conway; her sisters, Elaine Austin of Bloomfield, Mo., Brenda Butler of Greenville, Miss., Dowanda Murphy of Dexter Mo., and Sharon Wagner of Parma, Mo.; her brothers, Charles Wayne Bannon of Navarre, Fla., Aaron Bannon Jr. of Parma, Mo., Gordon Bannon of Broken Arrow, Okla., and Stanley Brannon of Parma, Mo.

Services, under the direction of Wilson Funeral Home in Blytheville, will be at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Mo., Tuesday at 2 p.m. The Rev. Cotus James will officiate the service.

 

 

Janie E. Tyler

Janie E. Tyler, 65, of Conway, passed away Friday, Sept. 25, 2009. 

She was born July 10, 1944, in Conway, a daughter of the late Major and Bill Clifton. She was also preceded in death by her husband, H.O. Tyler. 

She retired from Conway Human Development Center as a program coordinator. 

She is survived by her son, Greg Tyler and wife Cindy of Conway; two grandchildren, Christopher Tyler and Christina Tyler, both of Conway; and three sisters, Peggy Sanson and husband Kenneth of Enola, Joanne Lester and husband Charles of Conway and Jackie Clark and husband Don of Springhill. 

The family would like to give a special thank you to all the people who helped provide care for Janie through her long battle with Alzheimer’s. 

Funeral services will be Monday at 3 p.m. at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Conway. Burial will follow at Thorn Cemetery in Greenbrier. 

Visitation is Sunday from 3-5 p.m. at the funeral home. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Arkansas, 10411 W. Markham St., Suite 130, Little Rock, AR 72205-1409.
