More than 400 dinners and suppers were served at the annual bazaar of St. Joseph Catholic Church, despite adverse conditions. The Rev. Joseph Pobleschek, pastor, pronounced the event a success. “With little preparation but great earnestness” he said, “the members of the church labored to make the bazaar a success, despite the dire effects of the drought. This was done so that the school might continue to function. The congregation desires to express their gratitude to all citizens who assisted.” Both local service clubs, Rotary and Kiwanis, adjourned their meetings for the week and had lunch together at the bazaar.

The Home Study Club met at the home of Miss Ida Camp on Prince Street. 16 members answered roll call. Mrs. L. Al Smith led the devotion and after a short business session, Mrs. R. L. Wood reviewed Hugh Walpole’s “Saga.” Miss Camp assisted by her niece, Miss. Julia Camp, and Miss. Fern Williams, served ice cream with cake.
