After two days of classes, total enrollment at Conway Public Schools was up 219 students over last year — from 4,777 to 4,996. Most of the student gain occurred at the high school, which saw it’s total enrollment jump from 1,008 students last year to 1,214, an increase of 206. The large enrollment jump at the high school crunched space there, leaving only a few classrooms available for schedule flexibility, superintendent Carl Stuart said. When asked if the additional students would force the district to hire more teachers, Stuart said, “I’m afraid it will.”
