Obituary: Vivian Reynolds Marchetti

Vivian Reynolds Marchetti, 77, formerly of Lake Village now of Conway, died Sept. 7 at Conway Regional Hospital. She was born March 11, 1932 in Rosedale, Miss., and was office manager at Griffin-Steele Funeral Home of Lake Village for 14 years until last August, when she had to retire because of her illness. She was a member of the Lake Village Chamber of Commerce, was former Secretary and Treasurer of the Lakeport Fire Department, was a former member of St. Mary Catholic Church and CYO teacher and a member of the Altar Society in Lake Village. She also worked at South Central Bell Telephone Company in Greenville, Miss., for 34 years and retired in 1982. Afterwards she opened Computerland in Greenville and then went to work for Mortimer Funeral Home for 12 years.

She was a wonderful seamstress and loved to quilt and smock for her children, grandchildren and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Mario Geno “Mike” Marchetti; one son, Michael Lewis Marchetti; one 14-month-old grandson, Michael Thomas Newton; two brothers, Charles T. Reynolds and Tommy Jerald Reynolds; one sister, Clara B. Born.

She is survived by her two daughters, Sharon Newton Perry (James) of Conway and Theresa Lucas (Phillip) of Greenbrier; three grandchildren, John Christopher Newton (Amy) of Greenbrier, Brandi Newton Wardlaw (Ben) of Dexter, Mo., Brittany Nicole Lucas of Greenbrier and four great grandchildren and one brother- and sister-in-law, Robert and Marie Marchetti of Senatobia, Miss.

Pallbearers will be Johnny Smith, Grady Keith, Steve Ferri, Doug Purifoy Jr., Ralph Donald, Marty Donald. Honorary pallbearers will be Doug Purifoy Sr., and Robert J. Calvin “RJ.”

Rosary will be at at 6 p.m. today Griffin-Steele Funeral Home in Lake Village. 

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Greenville with Father Sommers officiating. 

Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Greenville. 

Arrangements are under the direction of Griffin-Steele Funeral Home in Lake Village.
