Good morning brothers and sisters in Christ. I ask you again, what have you put before Almighty God? I love using myself as an example.
Twenty-five years ago, I use to put alcohol before Almighty God. When I woke up every morning I wasn’t thinking about God or who wakes me up every morning.
The only thing on my mind was gin and beer. As I went through the day I would think about getting off work and heading straight to the liquor store. Back then we use to call it going across the bridge and before going to bed at night I had to have the same thing that I woke up with-gin and beer.
You see, gin and beer was my god. Back then I wanted it more than I want Almighty God. The God that loves me, the God that saved me, the God that sent His one and only Son to die for my sins. Brothers and sisters, gin and beer was my god.
Exodus 20:2-5 reads: “I am the Lord your God, who rescued you from the land of Egypt, the place of your slavery. You must not have any other god but me. You must not make for yourself an idol of any kind or an image of anything in the heavens or on the earth or in the sea. You must not bow down to them or worship them, for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, who will not tolerate your affection for any other gods. I lay the sins of the parents on their children; the entire family is affected-even children in the third and fourth generations of those who reject me.”
You see, it’s so easy to make something a god. People don’t know this but people even make gods out of cars or houses. We can even get closer by making family members into a god, I’m not saying to dislike anyone in your family but you must love God more than you love them!
In my family, I grew up around people who drank all the time. When I saw them doing that every day and all week long, I thought that was what I was suppose to do, drinking gin and chasing it with beer. I thought it was the right thing to do. I also thought there was nothing wrong with it. So when I got older, I tried it and I loved it. But as I got older and wiser I found myself shackled by gin and beer and wine.
I could not stop even if I wanted to but Almighty God delivered me from the devil’s hands. Like I said, I was shackled from my head to my feet! The devil had me but God delivered me from the works of the devil.
Now I am free from drugs and alcohol! And man, it feels good!! I thank God for answering my prayer that delivered me from drugs and alcohol. Try Him, He will do the same for you if you are honest and really want delivered! Amen…
