Chandler: Standing on the outside looking in

Genesis 7:16 reads: “So those that entered, male and female of all flesh, went in as God had commanded him; and the Lord shut him in.” And Matthew 25:1-13 reads: “

Then the kingdom of Heaven shall be likened to ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. Now five of them were wise, and five were foolish. Those who were foolish took their lamps and took no oil with them, but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.

But while the bridegroom was delayed, they all slumbered and slept. And at midnight a cry was heard: ‘Behold, the bridegroom is coming; go out to meet him!’ Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said to the wise, “Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’ But the wise answered, saying, ‘No, lest there should not be enough for us and you; but go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.’

And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding; and the door was shut. “Afterward the other virgins came also, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open to us!’ But he answered and said, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, I do not know you.’ Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.”

Good morning everyone, God is so good to us. For those of you who don’t know, God loves us and sent His loving Son to die for you and me.

In other words, for the entire human race. It doesn’t matter who or what you are, Jesus died for you! It doesn’t matter if you believe in Him or not, He still died for you. God knew we were going to need someone’s precious blood to cleanse us of our sins.

Guess what? It was Jesus’ blood, the blood of the sinless One. And that blood will never lose it’s power! Amen… Brothers and sisters, God has invited us to come through the door, the door of safety before it’s too late. Sometimes we get so close to coming through the door of safety but something always turns us from going through that door. Some of us always face temptation that is going to take our mind off going through the door!

Only God knows the temptation the devil has set before us that is going to stop us from going through the door of safety. My brothers and sisters, don’t let the world stop you from going through the door of safety. I have found out some people love falling behind the world and doing what the world does. How many of you know that the the devil is the god of this world and the worlds system?

So if you follow behind this world you are falling behind the devil! But since we are in this world and not of this world the devil is trying to make it so hard for us to walk through the door of safety. Never forget, Jesus is standing in that door with open arms waiting for us to come through the door.

He gives us strength and power to make it through the door. Jesus said He will never leave us nor forsake us so put your hand in Jesus’ hand and He will pull you through if you can stand the pull! My point is, one day Jesus is going to shut the door of safety and those who have not come in will not be in Heaven with Him.

You see, that’s why it is so important to know Jesus for yourself. Read your Bible, go to a Church that is teaching Jesus the Risen Savior. Don’t go by what I say, get to know Him on a one-on-one basis because when you stand before Jesus, and you will one day, it will be one-on-one. There will be no one to defend for you.

It will be you and Jesus. It could happen any time now so be on the safe side and come through the door of safety because once it’s shut-it’s shut! So stop standing on the outside looking in and come to Jesus while the door is open. Amen…

Guest Column: Legalize Gambling in the State of Arkansas

The state of Arkansas voted in November of 2008 to legalize the sale of lottery tickets in the name of scholarship money for higher education. Arkansas should legalize gambling in casinos as well because of the increase in tax revenues both locally and state wide, as well as other benefits the decision would carry. According to statistics provided by Americangaming.org, the two commercial casinos in our neighboring state of Oklahoma are taxed at rates of up to 30 percent on gaming revenues, and at a 9 percent rate on horse racing revenues. This increase in tax revenue could mean many great things for the state of Arkansas and its communities.
