Heart for the Arts: Share and everyone wins — will you?

In Nashville, Tennessee, DJ Coyote McLoud, upon my reminding him the project idea I had stolen from him, said to me: “Steal from me, steal twice.” Then, he laughed. Coyote died way too soon, but his ideas live on, and we will always remember his generosity of spirit. There IS room for everyone.

Continually impressive creative ideas and events abound in Conway this time of year. We hope this venue will allow more conversation about creativity in the marketplace.

Take a pause, have a coffee or lemonade and let us tell you about upcoming events you will not want to miss.

August 9 and 10: Art on the Green is hosting a Colored Pencils Class with Mary Ann Stafford. Mary Ann is long time educator and artist who will host a five hour class in colored pencil. Light-weight and portable, colored pencils are a great medium to work in when you are on the go and want little cleanup! Though it is an introduction to pencils, it is also for those serious about learning in this medium.

There is a cost associated with the class. For information, call 501-205-1922 to RSVP or email kellly@artonthegreen.net.

August 12, Brothers Honey Co. is opening in Littlefield Park on Bob Courtway Drive. A specialty shop catering both to beekeepers and honey enthusiasts will carry honey from all around the state, as well as Brothers Honey. Will also offer beekeeping supplies as well as locally produced honey/beeswax products and gifts.

Proprietors Katie and Elvis Opris also tell us Brothers Honey’s regular hours will be Thursdays from noon-7 p.m. and Saturdays 10 a.m.-4 p.m. The word is, they will be giving some lucky person a year’s supply of honey sometime between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. on opening day. Call Katie 214-717-0385 or visit BrothersHoneyco.com for more information.

Between the honey tastings, head downtown to Moore’s Art Supplies and More. They will have a Live Model Session beginning at 10 a.m. on August 12. There is a cost associated with the session. Call (501) 504-6968 for more information.

Stobys. Unlimited Cheese Dip. Need we say more? Patti and David Stobaugh are donating 100 percent of the proceeds of a special meal event on August 12 to HAVEN’s building campaign.
