Greenbrier’s Metheny qualifies for county spelling bee

Twenty-six Greenbrier Junior High students competed in the eighth grade spelling bee Nov. 9. First place winner Meridian Metheny took home first place and will be competing in the county spelling bee in January.

The Greenbrier Junior High School Eighth Grade Spelling Bee took place Nov. 9


There were 26 participants in the event that qualified.

Out of that 26, three students received trophies.

First place winner was Meridian Metheny, second place winner was Luke Allison and third place winner was Kylee Whitley.

Metheny qualified to compete in the Faulkner County District Spelling Bee in January with Allison as her alternate.

“Congratulations to all that participated and to our winners,” the school’s website stated.
