Berumen wins Peace Poster Contest; goes on to district competition

St. Joseph High School’s Emily Berumen drew the winning poster representing her school in the annual Peace Poster Contest sponsored by the Conway Evening Lions Club. The eighth grader will no go on to the district competition.

St. Joseph High School eighth grader Emily Berumen drew the winning poster representing her school in the annual Peace Poster Contest sponsored by the Conway Evening Lions Club.

 

This year’s theme was “The Future of Peace.”

Students between the ages of 11-13 were eligible to participate.

“Lions Clubs around the world have been sponsoring an International Peace Poster Contest for 30 years,” school officials said. “The contest encourages young people worldwide to express their visions of peace.”

Berumen said the girl in her poster represents peace and is spreading it those behind her.

Her poster will now be entered into the district competition for possible consideration at the state level.

The international grand prize winner will receive $5,000 and a trip to a special awards ceremony.
