Jim Stone students show responsibility in October

Every month the elementary schools in the Conway School District choose a word of the month.

The word “responsibility” was chosen for October and 17 students at Jim Stone Elementary who have shown responsibility were selected by their teachers and recognized Thursday during a school-wide character assembly at the school.

“Responsibility could look like many things,” Principal Mark Lewis said. “Maybe a student helped another student or adult. Maybe he or she went above and beyond on a project.”

Each student that was selected was called up by Lewis, allowed to walk the red carpet that was laid out for them and handed a certificate for their responsibility efforts throughout the month.

Several members of the Conway High School baseball team were also present for the assembly to give high fives to the students.

“We are having local athletes come each month to our pep rallies,” Lewis said.

He said that last month, the Conway High School cheerleaders came and led the group in cheers.

“I think it is important for our students to see that the sky is the limit if they show strong character, perform well in the classroom and represent themselves and our school as ambassadors in the community,” Lewis said.

The 17 Jim Stone students that were chosen were Julian, Graham, Zoey, Brynn, Adrienne, Julie, Sophie, Londyn, Ali, Jackson, Jina, Jenna, Addy, Sarah, Taylor, Colton and Collin.
