The Butler did it: Conway woman receives $2,700 continuing education grant

Jann Bryant (left), Program for Continuing Education chair of Chapter E, presents a $2,700 check to Savannah Butler to use toward a Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Central Arkansas.

Savannah Butler of Conway is the recipient of a $2,700 Program for Continuing Education grant from P.E.O. Chapter E.

P.E.O. is a Philanthropic Educational Organization promoting educational opportunities for women.

Butler, who earned an Associate of Science in K-6 Education degree with honors from the University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton in the summer, will use the grant as she enrolled at the University of Central Arkansas this fall to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Education.

P.E.O. Program for Continuing Education was established in 1973 to provide need-based grants to women in the United States and Canada whose education has been interrupted and who find it necessary to return to school to support themselves and/or their families.

Butler said after earning her bachelor’s degree, she planned to pursue a master’s in reading with a concurrent dyslexia therapist endorsement.

Jann Bryant, PCE chair of Chapter E, recently presented the check to Butler.
