Conway hosts annual teacher’s fair

Sallie Cone Preschool employees Melissa Jones, left, and Tiara Flood enjoy free goodies during Conway’s annual teacher breakfast and education fair Tuesday. The new school year begins Monday.

Teachers and educators from throughout the Conway School District meandered from booth to booth during the annual teacher breakfast and education fair Tuesday in the high school cafeteria.

Participants received a complimentary breakfast, goody bags and prizes from vendors within the community.

The event is sponsored by the Conway Area Chamber of Commerce.

“The chamber is so wonderful to do this every year for our teachers,” Conway Public Schools Communication Specialist Heather Kendrick said.

The day gives teachers a chance to start the new school year in a fun way including being able to gather together and see teacher friends they haven’t seen all summer, get new items for their classrooms and receive a free breakfast, she said.

After making their rounds, district employees made their way to the CHS auditorium for the Back to School assembly.

“It starts the year off with the right tone — one of excitement and focus,” Kendrick said. “Reminding everyone that we are a team with common goals – stronger teachers.”

Everyone across the board, she said, is excited to begin the 2017-18 school year.

“I have heard so many positive comments from teachers and staff saying how ready they are, whether it is year one, year ten or year 38,” Kendrick said.

Conway schools start back on Monday.
