Enola man jailed on suspicion of rape

A 20-year-old Enola man was arrested Saturday evening for allegedly raping a close family member in 2015.

According to a probable cause affidavit, the Arkansas State Police Child Abuse Hotline received a complaint that a 4-year-old girl was “acting sexually inappropriate at daycare.”

The young girl was questioned about her actions and told staff she had “engaged in sexually inappropriate contact” with the suspect, the affidavit states.

ASP received the call Sept. 30, 2015, and immediately initiated an investigation. Gary Johnson Jr. was brought in for questioning Nov. 12, 2015, where he allegedly admitted to inappropriately exposing himself to and touching the girl.

According to the affidavit, Johnson said the incident in question occurred while the two were watching a movie at a residence.

“The suspect then provided a statement in which he admitted to exposing [himself] to the victim,” the affidavit reads. “The suspect stated that this occurred … [while] watching a Disney movie on a bed in one of the bedrooms.”

While speaking to investigators, Johnson admitted to taking off the girl’s shorts and underwear.

Johnson told authorities he inappropriately touched and kissed the victim.

Charges against Johnson regarding the Sept. 28, 2015, incident were filed in Faulkner County Circuit Court on Jan. 27, 2017.

Online records show he is currently being held without bond in the county jail and is set to appear in circuit court at 9 a.m. Nov. 20 for a plea and arraignment hearing.
