Two men believed to be suspects in an early-morning homicide Monday were arrested near Alma.
“They do have both of them in custody and it is the two they were looking for,” one Faulkner County deputy confirmed over the radio at 10:45 a.m.
The Faulkner County Sheriff’s Office began searching for Rahzel Tennant, 18, and Phalon Tennant, 23, following a shots fired call around 3 a.m. at a residence at 721 Highway 365 in Mayflower where one victim was found with gunshot wounds.
The victim was taken to a local hospital, where that person, whose identity was not released as of press time Monday, was pronounced dead, spokesman Adam Bledsoe said.
Bledsoe said investigators were able to track the suspect vehicle traveling westbound on Interstate 40.
According to radio traffic, Arkansas State Police troopers conducting a felony stop of the white Buick (license plate number 073 VIY) along Interstate 40 were warned “to treat this as armed and dangerous.”
The Tennants were arrested near Alma, which is about 20 minutes from the Oklahoma state line.
“The incident is considered under active investigation,” Bledsoe said.
The Log Cabin Democrat will continue to follow this story and release more details as they become available.
