FCSO arrests Missouri man on child porn charges

A Missouri man was charged with 27 counts of distributing/possessing/viewing matter depicting child sex in Faulkner County on Friday.

Andrew Potter, 36, of Independence, Missouri, was being held without bond in the Faulkner County Detention Center, according to online records.

An affidavit filed in the circuit clerk’s office Friday indicates undercover investigators began chatting online with Potter on May 4 using a mobile messaging app, Kik, after talking with him in a group titled “pedheaven.”

“The unknown person stated he was interested in photos and videos related to ‘Young,’” the affidavit reads in part. “In order to verify his/her identity, the unknown person offered to send a live camera photograph of his driver’s license.”

Investigators ran the license number and identified Potter.

“Additionally, Potter showed to be a registered sex offender,” an investigator noted.

The exchange between Potter and the investigators continued from May 4 until Potter was arrested on Friday.

“I continued to chat with Potter via Kik and he began sending photos and videos depicting sexually explicit conduct involving children between the ages of 8-12 years old,” the investigator wrote.

The investigator added that Potter said he had “several hundred digital files” involving children and that “he had previously engaged in deviate sexual conduct with a 14 year old female.”

“In total Potter sent me approximately 27 files meeting the definition of Child Pornography in the State of Arkansas,” the investigator wrote.

During their conversations, the investigator told Potter he was married with two children. Potter reportedly made arrangements to meet with the investigator “to have sexual intercourse with the undercover’s wife and 12 year old daughter” initially but didn’t discuss that in the next conversation about coming to Conway, according to the report.

“However, prior to traveling to Conway the undercover and Potter only discussed Potter having sexual intercourse with the wife, though it was possible there would be sexual contact with the daughter,” the affidavit states.

When Potter arrived at the meeting spot in Conway, Faulkner County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested him and found him in possession of two cell phones, a container of male enhancement liquid and a bottle of lubricant.

Authorities said Potter admitted to the Kik communication, admitted to sending the files and gave officers permission to search his cell phones, which he said “would possibly contain child pornography.”

He estimated there would likely be more than 200 pornographic images on the two devices.
