With the holiday season upon us, downtown vendors are gearing up for new merchandise just in time for the Christmas season.
To celebrate the new stock, the Conway Downtown Partnership is hosting its annual Christmas Open House event for community members to come out and get a glimpse at what small businesses have to offer.
The event, which has been happening for more than 50 years, will begin the holiday season Nov. 12.
“This has always been the traditional kick off to the Christmas season,” Executive Director Kim Williams said. “It’s a very highly anticipated event to kick off the holiday.”
Williams said the day will bring all kinds of fun activities for families including music and artists including performances by Blackbird Academy’s ballet group and the Conway Symphony Orchestra’s brass quartet and then Palmer Music Co. at Simon Park from 1-4 p.m.
She said new this year, they will also be sponsoring an inflatable obstacle course for kids and adults also located at Simon Park.
“We have a lot more action going on with this open house than we have in the past,” Williams said.
She said she will also be setup at the corner of Front and Oak Streets handing out Shop Small tote bags filled with coupons, gift certificates and all kinds of items from the local shops and restaurants for the first 200 visitors.
Williams said she is excited for the event.
“I just love seeing all the people,” she said. “Just a great time to come out and see what all [is] happening for the holidays.”
