BancorpSouth donates check to Conway elementary school

BancorpSouth’s newly-launched Conway loan production office partnered with Theodore Jones Elementary School with a donation of $250.

Bancorp’s Market Executive Tom Nelson presented Theodore Jones Principal Tammy Woosley with a check Wednesday at the elementary school.

The donation will help serve children as needs arise.

“The donation to Theodore Jones is for $250 to assist them in purchasing backpacks and school supplies for kids who wouldn’t have the means to buy those,” Nelson said. “This is just a way for us to get started and show our and care for the community and help any way we can.”

Woosley said the donation is coming at a good time of year as supplies run short or items start breaking.

“Sometimes, we have students that need a backpack or shoes,” she said. “Those are kind of immediate needs we can serve with this donation, if it were to happen. For example, we’ve had a student’s shoe come apart, so it’s been nice to run and get them a pair of shoes.

“This is also the time of year students’ school supplies start running out and backpacks and shoes are falling apart. This is a great time of year to get a donation for those things.”
