Tour of India offers flavors from south Asia

Tour of India, Conway’s first official Indian restaurant, celebrated its grand opening Thursday with a ribbon-cutting cermony. The restaurant opened five months ago.

 

“It’s the first Indian restaurant in Conway,” owner Satvir Dhanoa said. “We’re really excited to be here.”

Dhanoa said most people think Indian food is spicy, but that’s not the case.

“Mostly, when people think about Indian food, they think it is really spicy; it’s not,” he said. “Everything we have on the buffet is mild. If you come for dinner, you can make it however you want — mild, medium, spicy. We use spices, but not all foods are spicy.”

The menu’s items range from vegetarian options, chicken, lamb, goat, seafood and more.

Dhanoa said the food options come from different regions of India, not just one area.

“This restaurant is like most Indian restaurants — India has a lot of different states and languages,” he said. “Every state has a different culture and different taste of food. Our taste we serve here is from all over India. It’s not just one part of the country.”

The restaurant is open from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and 5-10 p.m. every day at 2750 Prince Street, Suite 79.
