Former UCA professor’s trial moved to August

A former University of Central Arkansas economics professor facing more than 300 counts of child porn will now stand trial in August.

Noel Campbell’s already rescheduled January trial was moved to August.

Defense attorney Jeffrey Rosenzweig requested the continuance in Faulkner County Circuit Court on Monday to allow a forensics expert more time to analyze devices used against Campbell.

Campbell, 46, pleaded not guilty on April 10, 2015, to 310 counts of distributing, possessing or viewing matter depicting child sex. His four-day trial is scheduled to begin Aug. 14.

Campbell resigned from his position and tenure as an economics professor at UCA on April 14, 2015. He remains free on a $25,000 bond and is prohibited from getting a passport.

Campbell is set to appear next in Faulkner County Circuit Court at 9 a.m. July 21 for a pretrial hearing.
