Hendrix loses in conference softball finals


BRANDON, Miss. —  After winning four consecutive elimination games, the Hendrix College softball team’s magical run came to an end with a 7-0 loss to Berry College in the Southern Athletic Association Tournament finals Sunday.


The sixth-seeded Warriors (14-26) played all six teams in the tournament, finally losing to the top-seeded Vikings (32-6). They won four straight elimination games, defeating Millsaps, 8-0, Centre, 8-0, Birmingham-Southern, 8-3). The victory over No. 25 Birmingham-Southern was the first victory by Hendrix over a top-25 team since 2011.


It was the first-ever appearance in the conference finals by a Hendrix softball team.
