Update: Perimeter dismantled, murder suspect still at large

Steven Swanigan, a man wanted in connection to a triple shooting in Garland County that killed one woman and seriously injured a 20-month-old, may be at large in Conway or Faulkner County.

He is 6'2" and 180 pounds last seen wearing a dark hoodie and black pants. Police ask anyone who sees this man to call 911. They also point out that he is to be considered armed and dangerous.

Conway Police including SWAT and K9 units, with assistance from the Little Rock Police Department's helicopter, were searching for Swanigan this morning in an area bordered by Museum Road and Collier and North Creek Drive, just east of I-40 and north of East Oak Street. A permiter was set up quickly, interim CPD public information officer Sean Canady said, and it was hoped that the suspect hadn't slipped past it.

As of about 11 a.m., officers had searched the entire area without success, and the perimeter was dismantled.

The suspect fled from police units at about 5:45 a.m. Saturday at the Economy Inn on East Oak Street.

Swanigan is alleged to have shot three people in a Garland County incident that killed a woman and put a 20-month old child in stable but critical condition at Arkansas Children's Hospital. A man was wounded, but has been released from hospital, according to the Hot Springs Sentinel-Record's Facebook page. Canady said that he understood the shooting happened in the course of a burglary.
