Verizon Wireless provides disaster assistance to Mayflower and Vilonia

In response to Sunday evening’s severe weather that resulted in widespread damages in Faulkner County, Verizon Wireless has deployed a disaster response team to the communities of Mayflower and Vilonia to assist residents and emergency officials who need wireless support.

A mobile charging station will be located in the Mayflower Middle School parking lot, at Vilonia City Hall and Beryl Baptist Church to provide the community with on-site emergency phones, multiple charging stations and WiFi support. The mobile charging station will be located under two Verizon-branded tents and is open to customers of any wireless carrier.

“These are the times when communication is most important, during an emergency,” said Kristi Crum, president of Verizon Wireless in Arkansas. “We are supporting customers of all carriers with phones and other devices. They need to stay connected to family and friends.”

The on-site emergency phones, multiple charging stations and WiFi support will be available from 10 a.m. to dusk. Charging stations will remain in both communities as long as support is needed.
