Mosaic Templars Cultural Center is celebrating five years of collecting, interpreting, preserving and heralding the history of African Americans in Arkansas.
MTCC officially opened its doors Sept. 19, 2008 as the fourth museum of the Department of Arkansas Heritage. In its five-year existence, the museum has focused on being the repository of the state’s African American history and culture from 1870 to the present — particularly in the areas of business, politics, and the arts.
To mark its milestone, the public is invited for refreshments, cake and door prizes from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19 at the Mosaic Templars Cultural Center.
In addition to the festivities, there will be special sales in the Museum Store and the museum’s two newest exhibitions.Shades of Greatness: Art Inspired by Negro Leagues Baseball and The Fifth Anniversary Art Collection: Stirring the Soul of History, Vol. 1, will be open and available for viewing.
