The Conway High School yearbook, Wampus Cat, is now on sale. The theme of this year’s book is “Beyond the Myth,” said adviser Shelly Tomlinson.
“We want the book to show what it means to be a Wampus Cat, but also tell the stories of the individuals behind the mascot,” Tomlinson said. “We’re very excited about our ideas to get students and teachers involved and tell their personal stories.”
The price of the book has not increased over last year, she said. The base price is $50 plus tax, and can be ordered now at www.yearbookforever.com. In addition, the book will be in all color, including the ad pages, said Tomlinson.
“Our community and parents are very supportive of our yearbook,” Tomlinson said. “Our goal is to sell business ads and senior spots to offset the cost, and keep the price affordable. We want as many students as possible to be able to have a copy.”
Local businesses can purchase display ads for the yearbook, ranging from $300 for a full page to $30 for a business card size.
In addition, this year the staff is now offering sponsorships to businesses, individuals and organizations. The levels include Platinum, $500; Gold, $300; Silver $150; and Bronze, $75. These sponsorships include a 2014 yearbook, Tomlinson said.
Senior ads are also a popular feature in the yearbook, Tomlinson said. She said the staff decided to decrease the price of senior ads to make them more affordable for more students. A full page color ad will be $200, and a half page ad will be $150. The deadline to purchase ads is Oct. 3, and ads must be paid in full at the time of purchase. All the order information can be found on the CHS website.
“I know this is a tight deadline, especially for students who are just having senior pictures taken,” said Tomlinson. “Unfortunately, we depend on those pages to meet our production deadlines, which are also tight. Ultimately, it helps us create a better book.”
Senior class school pictures will also be different this year. “We are changing the pose to make the seniors stand out in the book,” said Tomlinson. “We are also encouraging seniors to dress in school colors.”
School pictures will be taken Sept. 11-13 through the student’s English classes. Order forms will be distributed soon.
