The Conway Fire Department extinguished a small grass fire that started at the Salem Road overpass near Irby Drive.

An official with the fire department said the cause of the fire is not yet known. Firefighters from two units responded to the scene around 1:45 p.m., the official said.

Although a few small flames could still be seen around 1:55 p.m., the majority of the fire was extinguished.

Firefighters had left the scene by 2:30 p.m. An area of burned grass was noticable on the west side of the overpass.

According to the Arkansas Forestry Commission, Faulkner County is under a moderate wildfire danger, along with a majority of the counties in Arkansas.

HELLO

I almost called the HOTLINE to inform the fire department that it "may" have been caused by kids finishing off their fireworks, but it seemed too obvious.
