UCA police investigate possible kidnapping

Female student found safe

Posted: April 8, 2013 - 1:47pm

Police at the University of Central Arkansas are investigating the possible kidnapping of a 19-year-old student from campus this past Sunday, police spokesman Arch Jones said Monday.

Police were notified at about 5:30 p.m. Sunday of the possible kidnapping. In the incident reporter, Benton Lee Thomas, 23 and a non-student, is listed as a suspect and Kelsie Lynn Emerson is listed as the victim.

Thomas lives in Little Rock, according to the report. Emerson resides in Conway.

Both Thomas and Emerson were found safe, but police are still “sorting out” the details, Jones said.

The two knew each other.

Police could not release details about the case, including where the two were found, Monday because the investigation is ongoing, Jones said.

In the incident report, the responding officer noted: “I was dispatched to the UCA Police Department to speak with a parent in reference to her daughter, student Kelsie Emerson.”

The other narrative reports are redacted.

No need to worry.

This was just a team-building exercise.
