Fox's Den: New Walmart shaping up

Posted: August 25, 2014 - 3:04pm

Step into my den, pull up a comfy chair and a cup of tea and let’s chat.

I stopped in to visit with the new Walmart Neighborhood Market Manager Jeff Miller and found they have already hired about 24 people who are already in training at a store in Conway. They are still keeping their office at 52 Broadview open for staffing Monday through Fridays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. until November when the store opens. You can apply on-line or just stop in the small shopping center behind Regions Bank.

Greenbrier City Council did not meet in August for lack of business; but the City Planning Committee approved the site plans for a new building on Lot 11, City Center Phase 3. They intend to build new doctor’s offices on the site across from the City Event Center.

Congratulations are in order to our City Attorney, Justin Chapman. Although he has been serving our city for about a year, the Conway law firm of Brazil, Adlong & Mickel, PLC just recently announced his joining their firm.

Monty Havens, our City Water Superintendent was presented with the 2014 Manager of the Year Award at the 2014 Arkansas Water & Wastewater Manager’s Association annual conference. Havens has been with the City of Greenbrier for the past 25 years and says our new waste water treatment plant is almost ready. The hope is to have it fully operating by the end of summer.

Til next time...
