County Agent Report: 4-H youth demonstrate speaking skills during county contest

The Faulkner County 4-H Method Demonstration and Illustrated Talk competition was held February 25 at the Natural Resource Center in Conway. The contest, open to all current 4-H members, allows youth to prepare and present an illustrated talk or public speech related to their individual 4-H project.

Cloverbud 4-H members, ages 5-8, gave one- to two-minute talks; junior members, ages 9-13, gave three- to five-minute talks; and senior members, ages 14 to 19, gave five- to eight-minute talks. Individual presentations were scored according to the subject matter, preparation, presentation, and knowledge of the material. Speeches were evaluated by a panel of judges for the respective category areas. The Extension Staff would like to say thank you to this year’s activity judges along with the parents and volunteers who helped the youth prepare their presentations.

The activity winners in each topic area will represent Faulkner County at the District 4-H O’Rama on Wednesday, June 18 in Greenbrier.
