Last week I asked you all to send me your lists of places you would love to see at Central Landing, and the answers came pouring in. I’ll share several of them, but not all, as reading the entire list would just get tedious, I’m afraid.
The most often named stores were Red Lobster, Olive Garden (surprise, surprise), Cheesecake Factory, Trader Joe’s, Dillard’s, Sears, Barnes and Noble, Gymboree and Catherine’s. Also on folks’ wish lists were an Apple Store, Academy Sports, Pottery Barn, Lane Bryant, CVS Pharmacy, Ann Taylor, Joe’s Crab Shack, Guitar Center, Claire’s, Dave and Buster’s, and on and on, etc.
Thanks for taking part in this little exercise. I have no control over what ends up coming to town, but it is fun to dream about it.
News from around town
• Look for a new Domino’s Pizza store on Salem Road near Dave Ward Drive in the Saddletop Center coming soon.
• Stromboli’s has closed, I learned late in the week.
• Grandmaster Hans Martial Arts recently added a full line of arts gear and equipment next to its Karate school at 1216 Harkrider St.
65 shopping days until Christmas
I’m officially starting the Christmas countdown. Not because I’m ready for Christmas at all, but because I like less stress in my life, and starting to think about it just a bit seems to help with that. If you are a regular reader, you may remember my Christmas countdowns of the past. I try to make them as stress-free as possible.
So, since the weather turned somewhat autumnal over the past week, and we’ve all had our pumpkin spice lattes and maybe even gotten a jacket out of the closet, let’s just take a moment to relax. No need for stress. We have so much time left until Christmas it’s barely even worth talking about it. We’re just going to keep a keen eye on that calendar, though. So that it doesn’t sneak up on us while we’re getting geared up for a peppermint mocha.
Come back next week for my take on the big Front Street redevelopment. Have a great week.
