Street department neglecting crosswalk

There is a crosswalk down the street from Margaret Vann Elementary School at Timberpeg and Salem Road that accesses Tucker Creek Park and the subdivision beyond that has not been marked for years. There is a yellow sign there indicating a children’s crossing but no lines on the street to alert motorists.

I have spoken to people at the street department who have told me they would “put it on their list.” I told Mayor Townsell before the election last year, and he assured me he would “look into it.”

After the election when nothing was done, I sent him a reminder with photographs of the location with no response.

Motorists travel 30 miles an hour through there without slowing down while children and adults wait for extended periods of time to cross. The city has the means and manpower to repair roads and build roundabouts all over Conway. I cannot believe the street department will not take care of this simple request.

Mrs. Windle if you want it

Mrs. Windle if you want it fixed you will probably have to call your alderman or Jack Bell.

This is Conway!

We don't care about spending money on silly things like public safety! We're spending money on important things like arches and overpriced Christmas trees.

You could just sneak out there in the middle of the night with a paint can and roller.

Don't hold your breath waiting for politicians to fix anything.

If you want a job done right...

The reason is

All paint for crosswalks has been set aside for the additional lanes on Oak St.
