The Log Cabin editorial, the day after the election, was noteworthy. However, as someone who supported and voted for one of the candidates who lost, I can’t help but write this letter.
The candidate was Mark Elsinger. He may have lost the election for Mayor, but the real loser was the City of Conway! Mr. Elsinger not only has the experience needed, but he is honest, hard-working and conscientious. He had concerns for the entire city and its employees. More importantly, he would not have been “beholden” to anyone, having turned down donations and support from a couple folks asking for this or that favor if he were to be elected.
My second reason for writing is to chastise this paper and a certain reporter who printed an article 10 days before the election questioning Mark’s residency without getting their facts straight. This was very irresponsible journalism, and the follow-up headlines were even worse, saying the candidate was “moving back to Conway” when he never left!
Last but not least, I wonder why “letters to the editor” have to be signed? Those cowards on the Log Cabin Website can spew out hateful, malicious epithets and outright lies, all the while hiding behind anonymity!
There, I’ve said my peace. NOW I can accept the loss.

Add commentmore support for Mark,
Amen Claranne (I know who you are :) ).
I couldn't agree more. I've known Mark since 1979 and have never known him to be anything but honest and he would have done as you said. I sent an email to the LCD employee you refer to complaining as well about his reporting tactics and never received a reply. Hmm, wonder why.
I will continue to support Mark in whatever he does and hopefully he will run again next time around. The current mayor may have won the election but the city is the biggest loser...... :(
well
I'll be glad when he moves back into Conway, we need more citizens like him.
well
Must have been a Tab supporter that thumbs-downed these comments.
