Thanks for fire help

Posted: July 10, 2012 - 3:38pm

The City of Holland was shaken by a large grass and brush fire June 20.

Without the help of surrounding fire departments and other agencies, this would definitely have been a much worse disaster.

We wish to convey our thanks and gratitude to those who responded to our aid. Among those responding were fire departments from Enola, Vilonia, Beaverfork, Liberty, Greenbrier, 286 East, Mount Vernon and El Paso, along with fire plows and rangers from the Arkansas Forestry Commission.

Other agencies responding were Faulkner County Emergency Squad and MEMS. Faulkner County Sheriff’s office and deputies were dispatched to the area. Faulkner County Judge Preston Scroggin responded with water tankers. Office of Emergency Management Director Shelia Maxwell and Red Cross personnel responded to assist the homeowner who was displaced due to the loss of their residence. Oakland United Methodist Church opened its facilities, providing water and serving as a staging area for personnel.

The Holland Fire Department wishes to thank all of those who assisted in the control effort to save the lives and property in the path of this fire.
