The Log Cabin Democrat is changing ever so slightly again, as you may have seen with the addition of our new publisher, Zach Ahrens. While much of the content is and will always be the same — investigative journalism, informative features and full coverage of education, business, government, crime and community — you will also see something slightly different here, in the Cabin Window.
The Log Cabin Democrat has assembled an editorial board to present a unified voice when it comes to the vital issues facing Conway and Faulkner County. While the paper has always written editorials about major events and topics, what we have now is a unified voice, which is filtered through discussion and debate. It will also be consistent with the overall message of the Log Cabin Democrat, which is to tell the story of Faulkner County, the highs and lows, the beauty marks and the warts.
The editorial board currently consists of Ahrens, Editor Ricky Duke, Advertising Director Rhonda Overbey and Reporter Joe Lamb. This group will reach out to the community to find out what is important to you. We will also discuss what we think is important to us. These varying viewpoints will hopefully bring you more informed editorials and essentially more of the news that you want and that you need.
The Log Cabin Democrat is here to promote the community but never at the expense of the truth. We are both a cheerleader and a watchdog. While we strive to provide you with breaking news in all areas as soon as possible, we also promise to be completely accurate with our reports. We will not release any news on our print edition or on our main web site until it is properly vetted and confirmed. That may make us second from time to time, but more importantly, it will be the news that you trust.
We are in the process of implementing several new policies when it comes to news gathering. Whenever a land sale of more than $1 million takes place in Faulkner County, you will get the details of that transaction. When news breaks after our print deadline, be sure and find it online. Unlike many other community newspapers, the Log Cabin Democrat is dedicated to providing constant news through our web site and through social media outlets such as Facebook and Twitter. The traditional method of delivering news is not going away, but we will also be at the forefront of technology when it comes to getting you what you need to know. You never have to wait until the morning to find out what happened yesterday. Log on and register for digital access, and you will be up to date with everything.
And here, in the Cabin Window, you will find thorough discussion of local issues. You may not always agree with it, but we trust that you will read it with an open mind.
We also want to hear from you. We want your “letters to the editor.” Please feel free to send us your thoughts and concerns to email@example.com.
And keep looking in the Cabin Window. We know you will like what you see.
The Editorial Board is Zach Ahrens, Ricky Duke, Rhonda Overbey and Joe Lamb.
