An ongoing discussion about all things Log Cabin Democrat, Conway and Faulkner County with a dose of state, national and international news tossed in for good measure. Oh, and a bit of sports, too. Now, from the perspective of an editor-turned-publisher.

Sorry to scream, but having to explain something over and over and over to people who have the power to control the problem they perceive gets tiresome.

So, I'll say this again ...

If you come across a comment anywhere on this site that offends you, look at the bottom of the comment and find the "flag as offensive" button. Click it. Then get a friend to click it.

Once two people flag a comment, it automatically pops up to us, and then we determine if the comment is offensive or just something that somebody disagrees with.

Lest anyone think we've forgotten about this case, we haven't.

In fact, some of our sources indicate that they may be getting pretty close to wrapping up.

We've heard a lot of rumor and innuendo, but of late, all the arrows seem to be pointing in mostly the same direction. We just don't have any sort of tangible, on-the-record bit of information upon which to base a story.

As soon as we get something, anything, we'll lay it out as best we can.

Some Faulkner County ballots don't list a constable race that they should.

In a perfect world, none of our state's ballots would list a constable.

I've lobbied for a few years on this issue, as have other columnists and editorialists. In 2012, with police departments and sheriff's departments, we don't need township constables.

Some of these folks maybe add a bit of protection, but my experience has been that the majority of them simply like the idea of being The Law in whatever little place they happen to be.

For the past couple weeks, I would have sworn that the soon-to-be-tossed items left in our old building were multiplying. We were hauling stuff out every day, but we weren't putting a dent in the mountain of things that need to go away.

This morning, though, revealed more than a little progress. The multiplying has stopped, and we're actually gaining ground.

But we still have lots of "stuff" left. So, anyone in the market for a starter office cubicle setup or all kinds of wheeled carts or even specialty paper trimmers, let me know.

Fantastic night.

From honoring Ida Waldran to giving Stanley Russ a platform to charm an enthralled audience, the night was five stars from start to finish.

Great to have a ringside seat.

This will come as a shock to some, but I often pull my punches with my writings. Many times, I don't put out there the full scope of what I'm thinking, lest someone think I'm a bit harsh or pinko communist or mouth-breathing redneck.

But, today, I'll be completely candid.

Whoever is advising President Obama may have just lost the president's re-election.

Of course, I'm talking about Obama's open support for gay marriage.

Personally, I really couldn't care less about the issue. Makes no difference to me. Probably should, but it doesn't.

Haven't said much about the dog lately, so it's probably time for an update.

He's bigger. That's about it.

It's not like he's changed his eating habits. Well, habit. He'll eat anything that doesn't eat him first. I made the mistake of leaving a pizza box on the counter. A few minutes later, when I rounded the corner into the kitchen, there he was, neck deep in pizza. About once a week, I'll give him a couple pieces. He's in doggie heaven.

I write a weekly column that usually appears in the printed edition of the Log Cabin on Mondays. I write the piece for Arkansas News Bureau because Dennis Byrd asked me to help fill in after John Brummett jumped ship. I thought the gig was a temporary one, but that was more than a few months ago. At any rate, the column appears statewide on Fridays.

This week's piece made sense to me, but that might be because I wrote it. It might not make a lick of sense to anyone reading it. It's what I would say were I to give a commencement address this year.

We're always thinking about new things to put on the site or new features to add. Our corporate folks often help by developing a functionality that turns out to be really popular.

Slideshows.

I must admit that I didn't see slideshows as the end-all, be-all, but the statistics prove me wrong. Those things get thousands of views.

So, we'll keep doing them. And anyone with an idea for a slideshow topic, let us know.

Every few days, a forum topic will appear blasting us for this or that. It's difficult for me to hold my tongue, especially if the person complaining uses incorrect grammar or spelling.

Today was one of those days. A commenter gave us a hard time about something, and the post was full of grammatical and spelling errors.

I should probably have just let it go, but my hard head gets in the way sometime.
