I loathe the political conventions.
I do this for no other reason than what happened last night. The best public speaker we have ever employed as a country came out last night and hit it out of the park. Bill Clinton did what he normally does. He gave a great speech. And that's all these conventions are about. Speeches.
A speech never put food on my table. A speech never put gas in my car. A speech can make you feel good about your country or your party, but in the end, the confetti falls, the conventioneers go home and you actually have to do some work.
I have no doubt President Obama's speech will be good. He's almost as good at make speeches as Clinton is. Mitt Romney's speech was very good. His problem was that he was overshadowed by Crazy Clint.
But I will be ready when the speeches are over and we will see how much substance from the speeches are accomplished.
