Sneak preview of the new Table Mesa restaurant last night in the location formerly held by Michaelangelo's Italian Ristorante was a study of cheap dates.
The restaurant describes itself as modern Latin with a blend. A place that has kale, Korean bbq, duck confit and kobe beef on its menu is definitely a blend. After seven years of studying Spanish, I'm not sure what modern Latin means but I'm sure it sounds like Ricky Martin and looks like Enrique with the mole and the steamy pout.
After adjusting to the totally new atmosphere which was a blend of old Michelangelo's and all the colors of the rainbow, I finally got what I came for...guacamole! It's super fresh and creamy.
I had to ask for pronunciation on the mashed potatoes and it sounded like the name of those Aztec ruins in Mexico. Seriously, the dinner was beautiful! The plate presentation would've pleased Padma and Tom Colicchio and the food was delicious. Official grand opening day coming soon. It's a great restaurant for Conway and really fills a niche.
And now for details on the cheap dates. Medjoohl dates wrapped in double smoked bacon and stuffed with cream cheese and gorgonzola. No need to google it; Medjoohl dates a.k.a. the 'king of dates' are large, sweet, tasty and grown in SoCal.
