Gosh just when you think tweens have gotten their fill of lectures on everything from texting while driving, cyber bullying and sexting, parents are clued in to some of the newest tech advances and the birds and the bees spiel changes again.
I just heard a parent talking about this new wave of photo sharing yesterday and then saw it on the news last night. So if you haven't heard about Snapchat, check it out and then talk to your kids, your kids friends, your friends, your neighbors, everyone!
I would include this...ANYthing you put on the internet, STAYS on the internet. It may sound fun to download a sexy pic that you're told will disappear within seconds. LOL! :-/ smh. Doesn't happen.
Not exactly the type of lectures we got when we were kids but I suspect if I've heard about this, then the kids have been doing it for at least six months.
Good luck, parents.

I've spent a little bit of time looking in to this. I've had it for a while and my niece and I snapchat often. I scoped it out after I found out she was on it, actually.
The novelty is that you can send a photo, and no matter if it's your foot or your ..., it won't come back to haunt you later. (But it can.)
The photo disappears after 3-10 seconds depending on your preference.
It works both ways.
Here's the outcome of my research.
It is true that on an iPhone 4 and 4s, the photo cannot be captured using the screen snapshot trick.
However, it can be captured on an iPhone 5.
Beyond this, another camera can be used to take a photo of a phone's screen as it displays the photo.

Know before you show. Context before you sext. - good advice Courtney!
Since I wrote this blog, I've heard of another place online where jilted lovers are posting *ahem* photos *ahem* of former partners. There's no better reputation management than to make sure those photos just don't get taken. Because not everyone is Kim Kardashian and Ray J. Just sayin'.
I know of what place you
I know of what place you speak.
I heard the guy who runs the site actually got stabbed because of it. I saw the tweet he sent out right afterward that went something to the effect of 'Wtf? I just got stabbed.'
