Can you trace your actions and your addictions through various mug shots and the number of times you've been in "Booked"? It's time to consider trying something different. How about recovery?
I've been having a lot of thoughts lately about how often in my lifetime I'll see happy, healthy and successful individuals fall into the hands of drug and alcohol addiction. It's happened to my family members, my friends and people I admire.
Addiction takes you on an incredibly fast downward spiral. Somehow the right cocktail allows you to hide it from friends and family. By the time we notice that there's a problem; it's worse than it seems and you're blaming it on your environment. At this time, it must feel too late to get off the substance roller coaster.
But, it's never too late to stop. It's never too late to try and save your own life. You are enough without the substances. I believe in you. You don't have to do it alone. All the specialists say it doesn't matter that I believe you can recover; you must admit that you have a problem before you can start to heal.

And while they are battling whatever addiction/problems they are facing, let's splash their pictures across the internet so they can deal with the added alienation of friends, family and employers!
It's really something that
It's really something that I'm struggling with.
Remember that getting drunk in your home won't get you arrested. The criminal charges usually result from your actions while you're on a substance.
On one side the 'Booked' photos may serve as a wake up call and act as a change agent.
On the other side, someone who sees themselves as a victim of their circumstances will use the publicly displayed photos as another reason to abuse.
well
My thought is, if you are addicted to a drug or alcohol, you care less about yourself than the people that are alienating you.
Just my opinion.
Addiction
Addiction has NOTHING to do with caring. Addiction is solely the body's continued need for drugs or alcohol to the exclusion of all else. Addiction erases all need for normal social interaction and is focused on the immediate gratification of the substance.
but
You're not born addicted (unless your mother was a drug user).
Thus, the fact that someone feels the need to BEGIN using drugs or alcohol is what I'm referring to.
Not born addicted?
Are all diseases congenital?
No, of course not.
No, of course not.
addiction so often is equated with habit
and there are real differences between the two. As a society we generally have viewed all addictions as habits, some activity anyone should be able to control or change, instead of as a condition/syndrome/symptom/disease which it is. Self medicating indicates the failure to successfully find the personal satisfaction one desires and/or seeking a potion to heal/relieve a pain, which is unseen on the surface of the individual.
Booked, in this information age, is like the stocks of the pilgrims and tends to be used for public shaming.
Diabetes, hypertension
Diabetes, hypertension, schizophrenia, etc., are diseases. Treatment of these diseases requires cooperation of the patient. If you want to view addiction as a disease, then responsibility must also be given to the patient.
