In many places, the photographs of smokers' diseased lungs, mouths, tongues, etc. have been forced onto the packaging of cigarettes. There was a commercial which aired recently showing the many disgusting results of smoking cigarettes. It was so disgusting I had to change the channel rather than watch the whole thing.
Maybe we can push the U.S. Congress to force gun assault weapon and assault ammo manufacturers to place photos of the mutilated bodies of 1st graders on the packaging for these products. It at least might get the attention of the NRA/ survivalist / "gun enthusiasts" who are complaining the government is trying to take their guns. It does not interfere with the 2nd Amendment in any way, and would be a good reminder of what assault weapons and assualt ammo can do to the human body, especially a child's body. It could change the mind of those with a conscience which outweighs their unfounded fears.
(note: I found far uglier photos to post with this blog, but decided to go with a more gentle but reminding vision.)

Like I Said Before
Nothing worse than a reformed addict since reader stopped smoking he is SOOOOOO superior to anyone one else that is still doing what he used to do.
Also we get it you don't like guns or own one or hunt or like to blow through 30 rounds as fast as you can pull the trigger.
I'll tell you nothing like chopping down a small tree with a rifle and 2 or 3 other friends to help.
Chopping down trees
I like to do it Paul Bunyon style. Wearing flannel, sporting a beard, and a trusty axe. It makes you feel alive.
Like I Said Before
I own and use guns and have owned and used bows and arrows since my father trained me to do so as a boy. I do not hunt wild game because I do not care for the taste of it. I keep guns (and support the 2nd amendment to the U.S. Constitution) for protection, like many people do. I do not think I need armor piercing assault weapons or ammo to do the job I keep guns for. At which point did your tiny mind find a trace of my superiority to anyone else, except for yourself, which is obvious.
If you have to cut down small trees with a rifle (and two or three friends), you are using the wrong tool. I cut up 4 large ones after the last snow storm with only my hatchet and clippers, or maybe your tool is the problem?
According to Yahoo News
An assault weapons ban is not expected to be included in Biden's proposal.
Hype
I believe you are right, ARV. Most of the talk is just something they would LIKE to do. When they took a quick poll of the congress, I doubt their own party members were ready to go much beyond a background check for all transfers.
It's quite a myth
That democrats want to take away guns. Maybe the fringe, but overall, there are sportsmen on both sides of the aisle.
Myth, perhaps
But you must admit that the most vocal of the anti gun ownership crowd ARE Democrats. That doesn't mean that ALL Democrats support them, but for some reason the others are not as vocal. I wish more would stand up and be counted now. Perhaps it would reduce the level of mania on both sides and I could actually find my .223 ammo on the shelf again.
True
But don't convince gun re-form as a gun ban. I think you will find Democrats definitely being vocal about responsible gun solutions. I think many in the GOP agree something needs to be done, but those in office are too scared of the NRA to do anything about it.
Not necessarily GOP
I believe you will find a majority of members of both parties who will not vote to ban or track semi-auto weapons. (Note: Auto weapons are already tracked and licensed individually.)
These members may well be a mix of those who will vote from personal conviction, and those who fear the NRA's strength. That's why I renewed my membership and sent an extra donation to their legislative fund.
