Please stop doing this

Here's a rant I've been meaning to share for a little while.

In all my reading of police reports I've come across something almost as shocking as the fact that people don't always lock their doors.

Lots and lots of people carry their Social Security cards with them at all times.

WHY?

For what purpose? Why would you possibly need it? And don't tell me you don't have it memorized.

Hide that card somewhere safe, lock it up, and hide the key. I can't believe how many people have had their Social Security cards stolen just because they left them in their wallet and then left that wallet unattended in their unlocked car. Goodbye, identity!

I'm not unsympathetic. I'm just appalled. What a waste! Sure, your identity can get stolen other ways, but why make it that easy?

Here's to better decisions.

ummm

I would bet you it's because they don't have them memorized. I mean, I'd be surprised to see the newer generation how many phone numbers they actually have memorized. Probably none since they're all saved in a phone. Ahh the old rolodex days.

Many employers in the service

Many employers in the service sector world ask for Social Security Cards, many people live with roommates due to the rising cost of apartment rentals in this city & nation.

I don't trust people and would rather keep my SS card on me. I also, don't ever leave my wallet or values in my vehicle and if I have a silly moment of the mind I don't leave my car unlocked.

I guess my paranoia trained me better.

Laminate your SS card...

...this will protect it from being bent, torn, or soiled. Then keep your laminated card at home in a safe place with other important papers. You certainly don't want to carry it around and then lose it or have it stolen.

DONT DO THAT!!

It becomes useless when one is a applying for a job located within a federally controlled airport.
