This Wednesday, I'll be hopping on a plane for the very first time (YIKKKKKES!) and heading to Dallas...then Miami...and then Haiti.
First plane ride, first mission trip, first time sleeping with no A/C, first time showering with no hot water, lots & lots of firsts.
Everyone I've spoken to tells me it will be an experience that changes me forever. I feel so incredibly ill-equipped to do God's work, but as the saying goes "God doesn't call the equipped, He equips the called."
I'm banking on those words to get me through my 8-day trip. I'm blessed to be traveling with an amazing group from my church, and I'm looking forward to loving on some orphaned Haitian children.
There are hundreds of kids there whose parents have either died or abandoned them simply because they can no longer care for them in the wake of the earthquake.
I've been told we will be surrounded by children who just want to hug us or hold our hands. They don't want toys, cell phones or computers, they want love. I CAN do that.
I'm sure I'll have lots of things to say upon my return, but until then, pray for me, friends!

Leigh Anne --
I love your post, your enthusiasm, and your passion for the journey and the work. This is what the kingdom of God looks like.
Safe travels.
Thank you!
Thank you all very much!
Safe Trip
The saddest thing I heard from military people is that had the governmnet not stolen all the money they would not be in such bad shape. The other half of the island The Dominican Republic is like night and day they are very modern and clean ETC
While the other half has been run in the ground and all the money stolen in Haiti. So when they had a problem there was nothing left to help the people.
Good Luck
She made it!!
Leigh Anne is in Haiti. She arrived safely on her first airplane trip.
