Trying not to judge, but...

Picture this...

Sitting on the sidewalk in front of Walgreens were 2 men in their late 20s.  Not dressed up, but sure wouldn't cause any stares if they were standing next to you in line.  They were normal looking men who looked like they were taking a break.  Honestly, the only thing that caught my attention was the fact that they were sitting on the ground.    That is when I saw the sign, "Homeless.  Lost My Job.  Anything Helps.  God Bless."  And then thats when I heard them start talking....  on their cell phones.   hmmmm....

They were likely short of beer money and assumed that some bleeding hearts would pitch them a few dollars in a misguided attempt to save their place in line at the pearly gates. There are a lot of people that prey on the kindness of strangers. For every person legitimately in need, there is likely one scammer just trying to get a fix. It's a shame, they are only hurting the people in need - more and more people look upon these situations with suspicious eyes (myself included).

Not with the current guy.

We surely need change and hope but we can not get it from Obama. He has just led us down a garden path to the cliffs. There is no way that we should trust him again. He will probably lead nus around in circles and them when we realize that we are again looking over a cliff, he will come from behind and push us over that cliff. We need a change, we can DO BETTER!!!

Today

Today I encountered a woman who is diabetic and requires medication that costs her out of pocket $300 per month......which she must pay out of her $900 per month disability check. How do you live on $600 per month? You don't. She has opted NOT to purchase the life-saving medication in deference to paying her rent, gas and electric bill.

There are people struggling to live... to stay alive... and she didn't have a cell phone.

Yes, some folks are taking advantage of the system, but more often than not you don't hear or see the folks who are not.

Just sayin'

Some help

If you are in regular contact with this person, this may help her out.

My daughter is a type 1 diabetic and in 2009 when my tricare ran out after my last deployment, she had no insurnace coverage. We bought her insulin out of pocket (credit cards actually) at about 600 bucks a month. She was in cosmotology at the time and that did not qualify her for my regular job's insurnace coverage as a student.

We asked if there was any aid available for diabetics in this sitsuation and was told there is none. So just as our cards were going to max out, I googled "I can not afford my insulin".

As it turns out the companies that make the inuslin have a form on their websites that you download, fill out, and have your doctor fill in the perscription and sign it, the companies will give you the insulin for free. I don't not know if there is a time limit, but they told us to just fill a new form every year.

I am not an Obama supporter by any means, but the part of the health care plan that allows children to remain on insurance until age 26 helped alot. We did recieve the free insulin for about a year.

My point being, not just to help this person, is that there is aid available for those who need it until they can get on their feet again. These guys are taking advantage and are giving the truely needy a bad rap because of it.
