I generally don't have road rage. I generally may be annoyed at slow drivers, but today was just one of those days.
I had just visited my grandma who was not doing very well, and has since been taken to back to the hospital. I was feeling pretty sad and about to cry. In addition to that frame of mind, I was running late for a luncheon.
On Hwy. 64, between El Paso and Vilonia, I got behind a driver going 40 in a 55 mph zone. If you have driven that area, you know it is almost impossible to pass in that area. When we would go around a curve, the driver would drop to 35.
Looking at the clock, I could see the luncheon ticking away. I honked. I didn't really mean to honk. Well, subconsciously, I probably meant to honk. That didn't phase the driver.
Trying to stop myself from going into total road rage, I put in an earbud for my iPhone to listen to some music. I had given up on the radio because either there was a crummy song or a commercial. All the songs seemed to be fast ones that just made things worse.
When I finally got to the four lane at the edge of Vilonia, I passed the couple who seemed to be in an intense discussion and probably had no clue of the huge line of cars they had backed up behind them.
I made it through the outskirts of Conway pretty well and through part of town until I met the really long train at the intersection of Donaghey and Tyler.
I got behind some more slow drivers on Tyler, but managed to finally make it to the luncheon to launch Dazzle Daze season.
I didn't get to have lunch, but did get to find out about a new $375,000 grant that will fund an outpatient senior mental health system.
I guess hearing that good news was worth waiting for...
